This painting is about the incredible strength we can find within ourselves, even when life hurts.
Frida Kahlo lived with tremendous physical and emotional pain, but she continued to create, love, express herself, and fill the world with art. I wanted to honor that resilience—not by focusing only on her suffering, but on everything that can grow from it.
Throughout the painting, flowers bloom around her alongside words of courage, healing, joy, hope, and strength. Butterflies and birds symbolize transformation and freedom. Music represents the things that keep our spirits alive. And within her heart, flowers are literally growing—a reminder that something beautiful can still grow from the places that have been hurt.
The painting includes words associated with Frida that have always resonated with me:
