Running Free
There is something unforgettable about the sight of a black stallion running free—the strength, the movement, the wildness, and that incredible feeling of freedom.
This painting was inspired by that feeling, and by the beautiful imagery of a stallion running freely along the beach. It brings me back to The Black Stallion and those breathtaking scenes of the horse racing across the sand beside the ocean—powerful, untamed, and completely free.
I painted this piece live during the Fairy Frolic at my solo art show in Milford, Connecticut, while listening to local Milford musicians performing around me. There was music in the air, people enjoying the art and festivities, and I was standing at my easel bringing this horse to life one brushstroke at a time.
I think some of that energy found its way into the painting—the movement of the music, the movement of the ocean, and the movement of the stallion.
For me, this piece is about freedom, strength, and the joy of letting yourself run toward whatever makes you feel most alive.
